Water Storags

Our nursery is built with the land falling in two different directions, either side of a ridge. Approximately 70% of our catchment falls to the west and is channeled to the storage dam. This is our largest storage facility, containing approximately 2.4ML of water. The dam is appromimately 30m x 35m, rectangular and 5m deep. It is built in deep red soil and lined with a 0.4mm poly dam liner.

Dam Construction

The dam area was first cleared and marked out. The majority of the soil was moved using a dozer and pushed up to form the side walls. A 20T excavator did the final excavation to get the steep walls and clean up the dam walls and roadway.
