Description

A very large very vigorous attractive structural/furniture making bamboo commonly seen on the NE coast of NSW. It needs space and is prone to powder beetle destruction if not properly harvested. Grey green culms with aerial root rings around lowest nodes. Strong almost horizontal branching and dark shiny medium leaves almost to ground level make this bamboo difficult to harvest. Large green dark hair-covered shoots are edible only if prepared properly to remove cyanide.
