Description

A medium vigorous bushy bamboo with attractive sprays of very fine leaves and numerous small hooked thorns. An ideal small stock or person barrier if planted as a hedge or windbreak. The strong dark green culms thick walled and sometimes bent or zig zagged are much in demand for furniture in the Philippines who now import some from Vietnam because of shortage. Produces extraordinary dark purple tinged shoots with prominent bulging leaf blades. A superior edible shoot.
