Description

This spectacular decorative bamboo is a must for those with the space available. Its bright yellow culms are randomly striped with dark green and the distinctive leaf formations cling glove-like to the culm forms. The bitter edible shoots prized by Vietnamese people are spectacular with green gold colours and black hair patches with protruding cup shaped culm leaf blade shapes. Commonly used for structures but inferior due to high starch. Fairly drought-resistant but very vigorous with adequate water.
